The Transportation Safety Board of Canada has released its findings after an investigation into a “risk of collision” of two Air Canada planes at Toronto Pearson International Airport in March 2020. On March 7 at 9:48 a.m., an Air Canada Embraer 190 aircraft was in the process of taking off from Pearson’s runway 06L headed for Denver. The flight crew made a radio call to report that they were rejecting the takeoff, reads the TSB report. However, shortly after the Embraer 190 was beginning its takeoff roll portion of the procedure, another Air Canada plane, a Boeing 777, was instructed to line up on the same runway. “From his displays, he could see the Boeing 777 and the Embraer 190, but he saw no conflict at that time,” the report said.
