Twitter and Facebook discovered malicious and troll accounts in the run-up to last November’s midterm elections, it’s been disclosed. Twitter and Facebook announced Thursday that they had taken down hundreds of accounts believe to have been part of co-ordinated influence operations. These stemmed from Iran, Russia and Venezuela. As reported in the Washington Post, Twitter announced the deletion of thousands of accounts from Russia, Iran and Venezuela which it called malicious. That said, as part of our ongoing review we found limited operations that have the potential to be connected to sources within Iran, Venezuela, and Russia.
