KIDAPAWAN CITY — A twister tore apart at least 10 houses made of light materials during a heavy downpour in Barangay Buayan, Mlang, North Cotabato on Monday. The twister was brought about by the Intertropical Convergence Zone, a disaster official said. ADVERTISEMENTBernardo Tayong, municipal disaster risk reduction and management officer, said some banana and coconut trees were uprooted and hit the roofings of some of the damaged houses. Tayong said it was fortunate that residents were out of their houses, tilling their rice fields when the incident happened. Of the 10 houses that were damaged, four were flattened by the twister.
