Turkey, Sweden, Bosnia, the Czech Republic, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Iraq were the last six nations to book their tickets for the 23rd edition of the FIFA World Cup to be co-hosted by the USA, Mexico and Canada. Bosnia qualified for their 2nd World Cup as an independent nation, knocking out four-time World Champions Italy 4-1 on penalties following a 1-1 draw in normal and extra time. Italy will be missing the World Cup for a third consecutive time. Sweden needed a last-minute Victor Gyökeres strike to book their ticket in a 3-2 home win against stubborn Poland to seal their 13th qualification. Turkey qualified for a 3rd time following a narrow 1-0 away to Kosovo, while the Czech Republic saw off Denmark 3-2 in penalties after a 1-1 draw.
