(Source: Reuters)A car bomb blast exploded at a police headquarters in the town of Cizre in Turkey’s Sirnak district on Friday. Cizre is located in Sirnak, a province that borders both Syria and Iraq and has a largely Kurdish population. Following the attack, Turkey’s Deputy Prime Minister Numan Kurtulmus said that the PKK and YPG are attacking to take advantage of the failed coup attempt. On Monday, August 22, one soldier was killed and three police officers wounded in a clash with Kurdish militants. The PKK is listed as a terrorist organisation by Turkey, the United States and the European Union.
