Tunisia announces first case of coronavirus, joins four other African nations affected

Tunisia is now the fifth African country to report a coronavirus case, announced on Monday March 2, 2020. It now joins Egypt, Algeria, Nigeria and Senegal, who are being affected by an outbreak that began in far-away China. Tunisia’s proximity to hard-hit Italy meant that it was a matter of time before the country gets affected. The first Tunisian case is that of a person who returned from Italy on Thursday, 27 February, aboard a boat that carried 250 passengers. The Tunisian authorities said that all measures are taken to avoid spreading the virus.
