The government of Tunisia has entered into a public-private partnership with an energy company to run an electricity production unit using solar PV power. “The Ministry of Industry, Mines and Energy has granted the company Nourza Power an authorisation to operate an electricity production unit from photovoltaic solar energy,” said the Agence Tunis Afrique Presse (TAP). This will be one of the first projects to be developed under Tunisia’s regulatory framework for renewable energy projects. Overall, the government is investing more than a billion dollars in renewable energy projects, intending to reach 1,700MW of renewable energy production capacity by 2025.
