ANDROSCOGGIN VALLEY — Today is the state primary when voters take to the polls to select candidates for state and county elected positions in the November general election. On the Republican side, businessman David Starr of Franconia is running unopposed for the Republican nomination for state senator. On the Republican ballot, incumbent Joseph Kenney of Wakefield faces a challenge from Kim Strathdee of Lincoln. Chris Sununu (Newfields) is running unopposed in the Republican primary, but there are contested races on both the Democrat and Libertarian sides of the ballot. Former head of the Free State Project, Libertarian Aaron Day of Bedford is seeking his party’s nomination over Sandown businesswoman Jilletta Jarvis.
