Tuscon Police Chief Chris Magnus offered his resignation on Wednesday, following the death of a 27-old-man who reportedly died while in police custody. Magnus made the offer during a news conference, after the death of Carlos Ingram-Lopez became public, according to The Associated Press. The Tuscon city council and the city manager still have to sign off on the resignation before it becomes official. Ingram-Lopez died of sudden cardiac arrest on April 21, while he was handcuffed and restrained after he'd ingested cocaine, the medical examiner's office said. Mayor Regina Romero, a Democrat, said she is still contemplating Magnus' resignation offer but praised him as “an honest and great” police chief.
