The latest Census data released by the CSO shows that as of April 2022 Tuam had a population of 9,647. Claregalway also stands out as being the youngest town in the county, with the average age of people living there being just 31.9 years old. With a population of 1,632, Claregalway also makes it into the top ten of youngest small towns in Ireland. Ballinasloe is the second largest town with a population of 6,597, followed by Loughrea 6,322, Oranmore 5,819 and Athenry 4,603.
