TAIPEI, Taiwan -- As the saying goes, "It is better to give than to receive." Educator and philanthropist Tsai Hsueh-ni (蔡雪泥) celebrated her 83rd birthday today by donating a van to Hao-Ren Senior Citizens Home in Taipei's Beitou District. The handicap-accessible van will help transport the care center's seniors and disabled residents to hospitals. Tsai is the founder and president of Kon Wen Educational Organization (功文文教機構), a leading private tutoring organization. Her charity, the Tsai Hsueh-ni Foundation, has donated more than 20 of the vans to Taipei City over the years, according to Wang Hao, former director of Taipei City government's Department of Social Welfare, who first informed Tsai of the care center's need for handicap-accessible van.
