This is the first major natural disaster this president is facing as you said, he was at camp David this weekend and the white house released photos of the president monitoring hurricane Harvey from there. You could see him video teleconferencing with his cabinet and issued a number of tweets over the weekend. The white house says the president does not want to get in the way of the rescue efforts that are under way right now.
