U.S. president-elect Donald Trump released a video on Monday laying out actions he will take on his first day in office on Jan. 20, including withdrawing the United States from a Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal. Calling the TPP a "potential disaster" for the U.S., he said his administration would instead "negotiate fair bilateral trade deals that bring jobs and industry back onto America shores." Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, who attended a gathering of TPP leaders in Lima on Saturday, said there was no discussion at the meeting that other members should try to put the TPP into effect without the United States. "The TPP would be meaningless without the United States," he said. "These are just a few of the steps we will take to reform Washington and rebuild our middle class," Trump said.
