Evangelicals rallied in support of two Trump rulings aimed at expanding religious freedom. Tens of millions of women could have the cost of birth control reimbursed under Obamacare, but a ruling issued last night will let companies refuse on the grounds of religion or moral convictions. In another move which thrilled President Trump’s evangelical base, the justice department directed government agencies to review their nondiscrimination policies with a view to expanding religious freedom. Democrats and LGBT rights groups warned that employers were being given sweeping powers to discriminate.
