He adds that many countries will be sending warships to keep the shipping channel “open and safe”. The island’s terminals is where 90 per cent of Iranian oil is shipped from. Iran’s foreign minister Abbas Araghchi said the Strait of Hormuz is not closed to friendly countries. It is also the only significant UAE port which lies outside the Strait of Hormuz.
