It would send a strong message that the city supports quality day care in the community . It would only cost about $60,000 a year, and it would offer relief for many providers. It is unfair to give a tax break to some classes of businesses and not offer it to others. The cost to the city is likely to increase as more child care businesses open and apply. It seems like a good idea, but the long-term cost to the city could be an issue.
