Dan is right, of course, to point out that Rubio has changed his tune on the NATO military alliance. Speaking to Sean Hannity on Fox News on Tuesday, the Secretary of State said he was “one of the strongest defenders of NATO during my time as a United States senator because I found great value in it.”Now, he told Hannity, he questioned that value. “Why do we have billions and billions of dollars, hundreds of billions of dollars, over the years trillions of dollars, and all these American forces stationed in the region if we can only use them, we can — when in our time of need we’re not going to be allowed to use those bases?” Rubio said, adding that there was “no doubt” that the United States was going to “have to reexamine the value of NATO and that Alliance for our country.”
