U.S. President Donald Trump has signed an executive action implementing "new vetting measures" that he says are aimed at keeping terrorists out of the United States. The White House did not immediately release details on the order that Trump signed. The Pew Research Center found that 38,901 Muslim refugees entered the United States in fiscal year 2016 from all countries, almost the same number, 37,521, as Christian refugees. Canada has taken in 39,671 Syrian refugees since November 2015, according to the federal government.
