The Dow 30 and S&P 500 started off strong Monday morning after the US Senate passed its version of tax reform early Saturday. The Dow was initially up 302.45 points, or 1.2%, at its high, and the S&P 500 was 22.97 higher or 0.9%. President Trump touted those gains on CNBC. The initial pop followed last week's gains where the Dow was up 2.9% and the S&P 500 was 1.5% higher. Keep in mind that tax reform is probably the biggest one of Trump’s campaign promises that could have the largest impact on the overall economy and therefore the stock market.
