Trump centered much of his presidential campaign on his promises to curb illegal immigration and to make Mexico pay for a border wall. “I would build a great wall, and nobody builds walls better than me, believe me, and I’ll build them very inexpensively. Illegal immigration, which fell during Trump’s first months in office, has been rising again. For their part, Trump and his White House do seem to understand the danger to his reelection chances next year.
