PhotoTo the Editor:I read “One Honorable American’s Love of Trump,” by Roger Cohen (column, Feb. 10), in which he interviewed a Trump supporter, with great interest. The quote that made me literally gasp was Shannon Kennedy’s defense of President Trump: “If I thought he was a racist, I’d be off the train so fast you’d have to mail me my shadow.”I feel the need to talk to Shannon’s shadow. I would like to remind his shadow that President Trump perpetuated for years the racist lie that President Barack Obama was not born in America. I would like to remind Shannon’s shadow that Mr. Trump said some neo-Nazis were “very fine people.”I would like to remind Shannon’s shadow that Representative Paul Ryan said, in regard to the president’s assertion that Judge Gonzalo Curiel could not do his job because he was “a Mexican,” that it was the “textbook definition of a racist comment.”Mr. Trump’s racist train left the station long ago, Shannon.
