PhotoWASHINGTON — White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer said Tuesday that President Trump stood by his unprecedented Twitter posts accusing President Barack Obama of ordering wiretaps on his phones in Trump Tower. During the same White House news conference, Mr. Spicer also said he had no information that would lead him to believe the president had lost faith in James B. Comey, the F.B.I. director, despite reports that Mr. Comey had asked the Justice Department to reject Mr. Trump’s claim. Mr. Spicer also noted that Mr. Trump had not spoken to Mr. Comey about the matter. On Saturday, Mr. Trump called Mr. Obama a “bad (or sick) guy” and claimed, without any evidence, that Mr. Obama “had my ‘wires tapped.’” He likened the supposed tapping to “Nixon/Watergate” and “McCarthyism,” but he did not indicate where he had gotten that information.
