WASHINGTON—The White House legal team closed out its defense of President Trump in an abbreviated session Tuesday aimed at persuading the Senate to look past new disclosures and end the trial without hearing additional witnesses or evidence. Pat Philbin, Pat Cipollone and Jay Sekulow each spoke for the president’s team on Tuesday, in a session that wrapped up by midafternoon, well before the allotted time for opening arguments expires.
