It’s hard to get people to care about local political races. Getting people to feel like it’s important to go vote for your representative is a struggle in off-year elections. “Your vote in 2018 is every bit as important as your vote in 2016,” President Trump said during an event Tuesday in Washington. But it certainly suggests Trump’s “campaigning for every last vote” might be less robust than Republicans might hope. Trump’s demonstrated political priority is Trump, and it’s not clear that he’ll actually invest that much time and energy on another focus.
