Trudeau is doing almost nothing to help us deal with inflation — and that’s exactly what he should do
Poilievre has used his leadership campaign to scapegoat Trudeau for Canada’s historically high inflation, labelling it “Justinflation.”A catchy slogan, to be sure, and a misinformed one. In truth, Trudeau belongs on the sidelines when it comes to inflation. The inflation rate is, of course, already coming down. Trudeau could impose wage and price controls, as his father did to fight the wretched double-digit inflation of the 1970s. It could, for instance, de-index CPP/QPP payments from the inflation rate.
