The industry added 4,700 jobs in March, as construction and manufacturing added fewer jobs than the previous month. That came after hiring in trucking hit a five-year high in February, at a time when some fleets were optimistic that shipping demand was poised for a rebound. Compared with the same month in 2016, however, hiring was up at warehouse and transportation firms. Warehouse and storage jobs stood at 898,000 in March 2016 compared with 945,200 last month—which amounts to more than 5% growth year over year.
