KLANG: The ongoing massive congestion at Westports is taking a heavy toll not only on hauliers in terms of financial losses but also truck drivers’ health. Checks by the NST Business today showed traffic was severely disrupted at the Customs checkpoint, with many truck drivers stranded there since 4pm. In a telephone interview this evening, Association of Malaysian Hauliers president Nazari Akhbar confirmed many drivers are still stuck in the massive traffic congestion. The last massive congestion we experienced was in May 2016,” Nazari added. This eats into the truck drivers’ earning, causing many to quit and leave the haulage sector with a shortage of manpower.
