These commonly high costs associated with damage due to accidents and other insured risks are mitigated by securing a motor vehicle insurance, such as the Comprehensive Third Party Liability (CTPL) insurance. Usually, only one motor vehicle insurance policy is required for a single vehicle. The CTPL insurance of the tractor head, in this case, may be required to cover the cost. Effectively, the tractor head’s CTPL insurance covers the trailer attached to it for the following clauses: liability to the public, no fault indemnity, and excess liability Insurance. Unless the tractor head owner and the owner of the trailer agree that a single insurance should cover both.
