A trucking company has admitted discharging “truck wash water” which was mixed with grape marc and leachate onto land which ended up in a waterway. In April, Renwick residents said they were "devastated" and concerned after School Creek running through their backyards changed colour, giving off an "intense" smell and killing wildlife. Directors of Broadbridge Transport appeared at the Blenheim District Court on Tuesday, and pleaded guilty to an offence against the Resource Management Act. Marlborough District Council, which was carrying out the prosecution, said Broadbridge Transport discharged the truck wash water onto land, in circumstances that might have resulted in the contaminant entering water, namely School Creek.
