The accident happened on State Highway 5, the road between Tirau and Rotorua. A truck has rolled and blocked the road on State Highway 5, between Tirau and Mamaku. The incident happened about 1.37pm on Wednesday, not far from Ngatira. The Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter was scrambled to the scene and the driver of the truck was airlifted to Waikato Hospital with moderate injuries. The highway between Tapapa Road and Barker Road was reopened shortly after 5pm.
