Truck removed, but crash still causing delays


A truck which crashed on to its side in North Dunedin has been removed, but motorists heading out of town on SH1 have been warned to still expect delays. A police spokeswoman said the truck overturned on Pine Hill Rd next to the Botanic Garden just before 8am and was blocking the southbound lane at the intersection with Great King St as Pine Hill Rd turns into Cumberland St.Traffic was down to one lane heading south into the city from Pine Hill Rd. By 3pm the truck had been removed, but the road's northbound lane remained closed and motorists were still warned to expect delays. Before ending up on its side the two trailer articulated truck took out a steel street lamp and a mature tree. The intersection is notorious for truck crashes.
