A small truck company has been ordered to pay $6591 after hiring and firing a driver by text message. Three days later, Sharda sent Morris a text to say he had had a truck accident and was in the hospital. In response, Sharda told Morris that he would ultimately be looking for a fit young person for the role. The authority disputed this, pointing out the fact that Sharda had contacted Work and Income looking for a truck driver. Craig ordered Sharda to pay Morris $5000 in compensation, $1520 for the unpaid notice period and $71 to cover the authority's filing fee.
