SH1 is open to one lane south of Palmerston after a fully laden truck crashed overnight. The Summerlands truck crashed about 3km south of Palmerston about 3am. The road was open earlier this morning with speed restrictions in place. The truck is the second Summerlands truck to crash on SH1 in two weeks. On December 22 a truck crashed on to its side at the bottom of Pine Hill Rd as it was coming into Dunedin, leaving its driver with critical injuries.
