Troy confirmed as Westmeath FF general election candidate

Troy confirmed as Westmeath FF general election candidateAs expected, the Fianna Fail organisation in Westmeath has confirmed the selection sitting TD, Robert Troy, as their sole candidate in the county for the next general election. Deputy Troy was unopposed when his name was put forward at the party's selection convention in Bloomfield House Hotel, Mullingar last night (Monday). Athlone-based party councillor, Aengus O'Rourke, had put his name forward for the Westmeath convention, but withdrew it when party headquarters decided to opt for a two-candidate strategy. Robert Troy, who is a native of Ballynacargy, has represented the people of Longford- Westmeath since his election to Dáil Éireann on his first attempt in 2011. He successfully retained his seat for the party in both the 2016 and 2020 general elections.
