(CNN) Tropical Storm Hermine drenched the Carolinas as it churned toward the East Coast, knocking down trees and causing blackouts as the holiday weekend kicked off. Hurricane Hermine hit Florida's Gulf Coast on Thursday and has since weakened to a tropical storm.
