Trooper responding to driver in need allegedly hits and kills pedestrian


CASSIA COUNTY — An Idaho State trooper allegedly hit and killed a woman near Malta Wednesday night, according to a news release from the Idaho State Police. “An ISP trooper was responding to assist a motorist on State Highway 81 in Cassia County. At about milepost four, the trooper struck a female pedestrian in the roadway with his patrol car,” officials said. At the scene, ISP was assisted by Malta Ambulance, Malta Quick Response Unit, Cassia County Coroner’s Office, the Cassia County Sheriff’s Office and the Idaho Transportation Department, according to the news release. The Twin Falls County Sheriff’s Office is reportedly taking the lead in the investigation, with the CITF supporting the effort.
