Tripartite partners give nod to tracking system

0Windhoek - A regional electronic Corridor Trip Monitoring System (CTMS) has been approved by the SADC-EAC-COMESA tripartite bloc. Director of Infrastructure at the COMESA Secretariat, Baptiste Mutabazi, this week said the system would enable information to be readily available along transport corridors for use by regulatory and law enforcement agencies. Thereafter, the CTMS will be rolled out to the other corridors in the tripartite region based on member states’ individual preparedness. The CTMS will be integrated with the EAC Regional Electronic Cargo Tracking System (RECTS), which is being piloted in East African. The system will ultimately be reinforced by legal provisions in the Tripartite Multilateral Cross Border Road Transport Agreement, adopted by the Tripartite Sectoral Committee on Infrastructure.
