Trinamul leaders and supporters were seen taking part in bike rallies for panchayat polls without wearing helmets, though chief minister Mamata Banerjee had launched her Safe Drive Save Life programme with great fanfare in Bengal in 2016. (Clockwise from top) The ruling party organised the bike rallies in Karimpur block 1 of Nadia, Bolpur in Birbhum and in Balarmpur block of Purulia. Around 300 party workers also took part in the two-wheeler procession. In Nadia, a Trinamul panchayat samiti candidate, Tapas Debnath, took part in the rally, along with 200 party workers, on Saturday. Around 50 Trinamul workers were seen riding in the motorbike rally in front of the subdivisional officer's office without helmets in Bolpur on April 23.
