Trial begins for alleged Bay of Plenty baby killerFAIRFAX NZ An accused baby killer is on trial in Tauranga. A young baby stood no chance of surviving being after being attacked by his killer, says a Crown prosecutor. The alleged killer, who currently has name suppression, appeared at the High Court in Tauranga for the opening day of his murder trial. It bore many fracture marks including one long one running from ear to ear along the back of the skull. The trial, before Justice Peters, has been adjourned for the afternoon and will resume on Tuesday morning when the defence will deliver their opening statement.
