Plans to exhibit football memorabilia have been boosted by the visit of an Ipswich Town FC legend and his family. Trevor Whymark paid a visit to Diss Museum with his son, Craig, and wife, Rita, to donate mementos from his football career, which included a match ball with which he scored four goals against Lazio in 1973. Basil Abbott said: “Trevor is a great hero in our family and we are the same age. “There was pandemonium in our house whenever Trevor scored on Match of the Day. I am delighted to include his mementoes in the display.”Mr Whymark was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease earlier this year.
