A magnitude 3.9 earthquake hit central Taiwan at 5:06 a.m. today and was felt in several parts of the country, according to the Central Weather Bureau (CWB). However, there were no immediate reports of damage or injuries, CNA reports. The epicenter of the earthquake was located at sea about 6.9 kilometers northwest of Nantou County Hall and struck at a depth of 25.1 km, the bureau's Seismology Center said. The intensity, which gauges the actual effect of a quake, was highest in Changhua county, measuring 3 on Taiwan's 0-7 intensity scale, the CWB said. The quake was also felt in Taichung city in central Taiwan and Yunlin county in the south at an intensity of 2, and Miaoli county in the north, Nantou, Chiayi city in the south as well as the outlaying Penghu at an intensity of 1, according to the CWB.
