Tree experts are now looking into ways of propagating the rare specimens, which carry the botanical name Ulmus Wentworthii Pendula. Wentworth elms were thought to have been wiped out in the dutch elm disease epidemic that destroyed up to 75 million trees in Britain during the 1970s.
