British holidaymakers returning from France will have to go into quarantine from tomorrow after a surge in the number of coronavirus cases across the Channel. Boris Johnson and senior cabinet ministers signed off the restrictions last night after the number of new French coronavirus cases reached a post-lockdown record. Holidaymakers will be given until 4am tomorrow to return before the restrictions are implemented, prompting a scramble to book trains, ferries and flights home. Last night Clément Beaune, the French secretary of state for European affairs, said that the decision would lead to “reciprocal measures” across the Channel. “A British decision which we regret and which will lead to reciprocal measures, all in hoping for a return for normal as soon as possible,” he said.
