The comments come after Beijing announced new legal guidelines aimed at punishing “Taiwanese independence diehards” with penalties as severe as execution. Taipei on Thursday last week raised its travel advisory for China, Hong Kong and Macau to “orange,” suggesting against nonessential travel.
