Travel stocks take heart

There are hopes that the two-week quarantine for travellers returning from certain countries will be relaxedBeleaguered UK travel stocks were buoyed by reports that the government is to consider scrapping the blanket two-week quarantine imposed on travellers coming in from certain countries. Under existing rules, holidaymakers who are returning from “red-listed” countries such as France and Spain have to self-isolate for 14 days. Ministers will meet next week to discuss other options, including testing passengers between five and ten days after their arrival, according to The Telegraph. That would let them cut short their quarantine period if the test results are negative. Travel bosses are desperate for a testing system to be brought in, with concerns that quarantines are killing off any hopes of near-term revival for the industry.
