Heavy snowfall has already covered parts of Scotland, with the Met Office predicting up to 40cm (15in) in some areas and 5cm across England and Wales. Daytime temperatures are expected to remain in the low single figures for much of the country, and below freezing in parts of northern Scotland. Check for road closures or delays to public transport and amend plans if necessary. Give yourself the best chance of avoiding delays by checking road conditions if driving, or bus and train timetables, and amending your travel plans if necessary. Be prepared for weather warnings to change: when a weather warning is issued, the Met Office recommends staying up to date with the weather forecast in your area.
