The US will resume admitting refugees from countries that it said posed increased security risks. Officials will apply extra vetting to people from the mostly Middle Eastern and African nations. The Department of Homeland Security will resume admitting refugees from 11 countries, US officials told reporters on condition of anonymity Monday, but displaced people will be subjected to additional screening and other new security measures. ‘Yet more hurdles’Displaced people from the 11 countries had made up more than 40 percent of refugees admitted to the US during the past three years. Since October 25, when the 90-day review went into effect, the US admitted just 46 refugees from the 11 countries, according to State Department data.
