Transport Sector Needs To Prepare For The Challenges Of International Trade

Angolan transport companies will have to be prepared to respond to new developments in international trade relations, the country's Minister of Transport, Augusto Tomás, said on Thursday. The transport minister highlighted the signing of the agreement that marks the launch of the Continental Free Trade Area (ZCLC) and the protocol to the agreement establishing the African economic community on the free movement of people and goods on the continent. Referring to the international trade relations axis, he highlighted the east/west axis – which links North America, Asia, the Pacific (China) and Europe, as well as the north/south axis – dominated by trade relations between Mercosur, Southern Africa and South Asia (India) with Europe, North America and Asia / Pacific. He pointed out that the global trends in the development of transport, operability and intermodality, generate other dynamics no less interesting in terms of some modes of transport in particular. "There is no development without advanced and efficient transport systems, supported by logistics, technology and information systems," he said.
