I’ve mentioned how we’ll playfully use the word “redacted” in the newsroom before and that got me thinking about other “false friends” we often come across. In honor of Friendship Day, which Argentines celebrated on July 20, let’s commiserate over some that have led us astray. At the Herald, it’s usually a case of partial false friends, i.e. “On Sunday, I urged readers to beware false friends.” But if you do fall for one of these, chin up: as evidenced by this list, you are definitely not the only one.
