more-inR. Nasriya, a 21-year-old transgender, is all set to don Khaki uniform as Grade II constable as she has successfully cleared the endurance and physical fitness tests, thanks to the intervention of Madurai Bench of Madras High Court. Pursuing graduation in English literature through distance education, Nasriya had applied for Grade II constable post with lots of hopes. Even after moving the High Court, she badly wanted the identity card to appear for the tests. And when she came to the Collectorate here on August 21, Collector S. Natarajan was too helpful and got her the identity card, the same day. She was certified as a transgender by a team of doctors at Government Rajaji Hospital, Madurai, and the government headquarters hospital here.
